Although the war in the east of Ukraine has disappeared from the headlines, it still continues. The victims are the civilian population, which are affected both directly and indirectly. The enormously cold winters make the survival in the bombed houses even more difficult. Many people have no way to flee and endure inhuman conditions.
Nimdy supports four small organizations active in the Donetsk war zone. Jakov Gisler Yakushevskji personally known to us is from Donetsk and knows all the representatives personally of these organizations. During our visits to Donetsk, we can get an accurate picture of their activities and see how the funds are used. Through Facebook, we are in constant contact with the representatives.
1. Wild Volunteers
A group of women, led by Natalya Ruslanova.
These women visit people in the war-affected city areas, which have no means of escape. Their houses are partly destroyed by bombs, the windows are missing, there are no stores in the neighborhood. They bring them food, clothing, and encouragement.
2. Department of palliative and hospice care / Donetsk
The hospice is located in the middle of the contested territory and run by Dr. Vitali Frolkov, who is personally known to the Board of Nimdy. It serves 28 patients.
Thanks to the donations from Nimdy, we could buy a heat-gun, medication, syringe pumps for dosing pain medication and cleaning supplies.
3. House of Mother and Child / Donetsk
Tatjana Nosatch runs the organization where shelter is offered to under-age and isolated mothers. They can give birth to their child, they are advised and can stay there between 3 -9 months. With Nimdys support electricity and water can be paid, as well as purchasing such items as drugs, pampers and toys. A second project is now planned, which is to offer the young mothers a permanent place, which are separated from their children.
4. The family orphanage
Lydia Kowaleva and her husband have taken 22 war orphans and offered them a new home. Thanks to Nimdy, new shoes and winter clothes could be bought for the children in the last very cold winter and the bill for electricity and water paid for. We also support them on a monthly basis.
